M4SD program aims to enhance contribution of mining to sustainable social and economic development by: enabling governments to create the space for improved sustainability of their countries’ economic and social development by ensuring the effective regulation of the mining sector; helping create a level playing field for the mining industry through better governance and corruption control systems; supporting mining companies in enhancing relations with their stakeholders and beneficiaries for improved social investment; and strengthening the engagement of civil society and community organizations affected by mining operations in this multi-stakeholder dialogue.

TIAC participated in the first meeting of EITI MSG

On November 25, 2016 Sona Ayvazyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anticorruption Center and Artur Grigoryan, TIAC member and Expert participated in the first meeting of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Multi-stakeholder Group (EITI MSG), which ushered in the introduction of EITI standard in Armenia. The idea was born to join the Initiative within the framework of the Open Government Partnership. It was included in the second - 2014-2016 action plan of OGP Armenia on the initiative of TIAC. Currently, the MSG is implementing the EITI standard’s mandatory requirements in order to file the EITI candidacy application and become an EITI member country in 2017.

TIAC in “Mining for Sustainable Development” Cross-Regional Workshop

On October 10-12, 2017 Sona Ayvazyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) and Artur Grigoryan, TIAC member and Expert participated in “Mining for Sustainable Development” Cross-Regional Workshop in Berlin, which was organized by TI and TI Australia. The objectives of the meeting were to build relationships and a community of practice, develop program vision at both global and national levels and identify how the Program Team can best support participating Chapters. The project participants established and developed key principles and processes to the effective management of the program. The Chapters planned to implement the monitoring and evaluation framework and to start work on impact assessment and change mapping.
