Local government elections were observed in 5 Marzes of Armenia: 25 applications were filed to TECs
As part of "Citizen Observer" Initiative Transparency International Anti-corruption Center, together with a group of partners, carried out observation of local government elections in electoral districts of several communities in Armenias 5 Marzes (provinces). Elections to heads of communities were monitored in numerous precincts in Vardanashen Village, Armavir Marz; Nurnus Village and Nor Hatchn Town, Kotayk Marz; as well as Akhurik Village, Shirak Marz. Elections to council members were observed in in a number of polling stations in Artsvanist and Semyonovka Villages, Gegharkunik Marz and Lejan Village, Lori Marz. Thirty-eight violations were registered on the election day.
More frequently occurred electoral violations were as follows: violations of the rights of authorized people, presence of unauthorized people and overcrowding in the precincts, along with problems with voter lists, stamps in passports, supplies for voting, as well as busing of voters and overcrowding outside the precincts. Based on the gathered evidence regarding electoral violations and the violations of observers rights 25 applications were filed to Territorial Election Commissions.
The "Citizen Observer" Initiative was created by "Transparency International Anti-corruption Center," "Europe in Law Association," ""Asparez" Journalists Club," "Helsinki Citizens Assembly Vanadzor Office," non governmental organizations joined by scores of Diaspora Armenians and civic activists.
