Armenia residents crowdsourced information rather actively on iditord.org website
On May 10, 2012, the guests of "Hayatsk" Club were coordinators of iditord.org platform Chair of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center Sona Ayvazyan and Media Expert Samvel Martirosyan, who summed up the results of iditord.org platform activities regarding electoral processes. According to Sona Ayvazyan, 1062 violations were currently recorded, more than half of them being related to the election day. However, information alerts continue to be reported, since some organizations, in particular non-governmental ones, are involved in registering their observation results on the website, so that there may be some variation in numbers. Besides, some records are in the process of making more precise, since a number of messages were not enough accurate or reliable or clarifications are added.
Instances of more than 500 violations were registered before May 6 morning. It was very active, approximately 100 messages were received per hour before the website was disrupted by hacker attack. The messages referred to every possible violations, including inaccuracies in vote registers, vote bribing related to charities, pressure on voters obstructing the campaign, illegal activities committed by the representatives of political parties who were in precincts or those of election committees, instances of other types of violations, etc.. The lion's share of observed violations were committed in Yerevan, followed by those in Gyumri, Vanadzor, Goris and Armavir.
Samvel Martirosyan addressed technicalities of the website, reminding that iditord.org is a platform where the citizens can immediately crowdsource information of the violations they observed. After reports were submitted they were posted to an interactive map of the website that can be easily viewed. The violations are of different nature, in some cases brief messages were reported, in others ? the texts were accompanied by detailed videos and photos, being considered as a reliable alerts. Some reports had feedbacks and follow-ups - either media representatives chased down to make clarifications or the reports found response among state institutions, for instance the Ministry of Defense, the police reacted on a couple of cases to launch proceeding on them. He also informed that the website was disrupted by hacker attacks. It is nearly impossible to find the hackers' client. The information on website still needs to be developed.
