Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center participated in Transparency International's Annual Membership Meeting (AMM) held in Berlin from October 13 to 18. The AMM brought together more than 400 delegates from 106 countries of the TI Movement to discuss its current and future activities. On October 13, he also partook in Europe and Central Asia regional meeting, which updated Chapters on the key developments that happened at TI-Secretariat, specifically regarding the implementation of the TI 2015 strategy, and exchanged information and views on current key programs and priorities in the region.

AMM opening plenary focused on the global context and TI in 2011, other sessions examined corruption as a crime against humanity, the way forward for TI-Secretariat's six key programs: people engagement, anti-corruption solutions and knowledge, business integrity, resource mobilization and sustainability, TI institutional network strengthening and public sector integrity.

After progress report from the Board was heard, 2010 Annual Report and Financial Statements were considered and approved, as well as 2011 financial update and 2012 budget outlook were presented, elections of the Chair, Vice-chair, to Board of Directors and to the Membership Accreditation Committee were conducted.

During the Annual Membership Meeting, the Movement adopted resolutions on aid effectiveness, government accountability in the Middle East and North Africa region, anti-corruption mechanisms for climate change finance, G20 action on stolen assets, and civil society participation in the United Nations Convention against Corruption country review process. These resolutions represent immediate advocacy priorities for the Movement, with some activities beginning this month.

In the election for the Board of Directors, the Movement re-elected Huguette Labelle (Canada) as chair and Akere Muna (Cameroon) as Vice-Chair. Two incumbent board members - Delia Ferreira Rubio (Argentina) and Rueben L. Lifuka (Zambia) - were re-elected. Four new board members were also elected: Jermyn P. Brooks (UK/Germany), Elena A. Panfilova (Russia), Josռ Carlos Ugaz (Peru) and Elisabeth Ungar Bleier (Colombia).
