The founder and late Chair of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center Amalia Kostanyan was the recipient of the US Embassy's 2011 Woman of Courage award for her decade-long crusade to promote accountable and transparent governance, combat corruption, and strengthen civil society engagement. US Ambassador to Armenia Marie L. Yovanovitch hosted the award ceremony, which brought together representatives of international organizations, diplomatic missions, Armenia's state institutions, political parties, civil society organizations and the media. She delivered remarks honoring Amalia's memory.

After her remarks the Ambassador gave the award to Amalia's brother Hovhannes Kostanyan on her behalf. In his address of thanks Hovhannes expressed a wish to live in a country Amalia was dreaming of.

The next speaker was Military Prosecutor of Armenia Gevorg Kostanyan who in his former position as Assistant to President of Armenia acted as the Chairman of Anticorruption Strategy Monitoring Commission
