Transparency International Anti-corruption Center (TIAC) released a publication "Towards Integrity in Mineral Resource Management." It introduces a foundation of integrity of operations in the mining sector as regarded by TIAC, which is developed within internationally recognized and actively extending framework of the principles of sustainable development, responsible business and transparent management.

Though the Republic of Armenia has adhered to principles of sustainable development, the country is actually developed not sustainably so that its economic growth and well-being of the population largely depends on further mining operations. Information about this sphere is far too limited and the public is unaware of the state programs of mineral resource exploitation, their effectiveness and the problems. Ethical business culture is not yet established in Armenia, and there is a lack of relevant legal or other prerequisites. On the contrary, a favorable environment is created for businessmen in mining sector to develop irresponsible business atmosphere both from the standpoint of environmental pollution and social impact.

Since natural resource management is a priority obligation for country development and enhancement of its citizens' well being for any country's authority, we expect this publication to attract the interest of relevant state authorities and serve a base for improvement in the mineral resource management. We also hope for it to become a guide for mining companies and other interested parties by facilitating more ethical business development and formation of due demand for it.
