Artsakh - Together with its partner “Civic Hub” NGO, Akanates” (Eyewitness) observation mission will observe local government elections in the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) on September 8, 2019.

“Akanates” observation mission will deploy around 80 short-term observers from Artsakh and Armenia to 40 polling stations of Artsakh to monitor election day preparation, the voting and the vote counting processes.

Along with stationed observers monitoring electoral processes in the polling stations, 10 mobile observer teams will monitor the polling stations which are left out of observation, and the areas in the vicinity of the polling stations, as well as will visit campaign offices of the candidates if necessary.

On the election day “Akanates” observation mission will periodically post information on the voting processes on its Facebook page.

A press conference will be held in “Armatner” (The Roots) café (16/38 V. Sargsyan Street, Stepanakert, Artsakh) on September 9, at 12:00 pm to present the preliminary results of the election observation mission.

The “Akanates” (Eyewitness) observation initiative was founded by Transparency International Anticorruption Center, Journalists’ Club “Asparez” NGOs and “Restart” Civic Initiative. Law Development and Protection Foundation is also a member of the initiative. In Artsakh the mission collaborates with “Civic Hub” NGO.

“Akanates” was founded in August 2018. It carried out short-term observation during Yerevan city council elections, and long-term and short-term observations during Snap Parliamentary Elections in Armenia.

“Akanates” conducted long-term and short-term observations in 7 marzes of Armenia during local government elections held in February and June 2019.
