Sona Ayvazyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center presented NGO perspectives regarding the implementation of the Aarhus Convention in Armenia in a seminar held from November 19 to 20, 2008 in Yerevan. It was the third in a series of seminars the Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI) co-hosted with the Armenian Ministry of Nature Protection within the framework of "Environmental management and civil society in Armenia" project, aimed to explore the implementation process of Armenia's environmental commitments, improve environmental management and enhance the role of civil society in the governmental decision-making process.

Participants to the seminar addressed challenges in tackling a number of environmental issues, other countries' experience and international organizations' assistance in the implementation of Aarhus Convention in Armenia, as well as the possible cooperation of government institutions, business and NGOs.

The FNI is an independent foundation engaged in research on international environmental, energy, and resource management politics.
