More than 70 civic activists, including representatives of media, human rights and ecological organizations, youth movements, university students, citizens and journalists concerned over the current situation of democracy, free media and rule of law in Armenia, staged a demonstration on November 19, 2008, protesting violence against journalists. Organized by Transparency International Anti-corruption Center and its partners, the action was several times interrupted by police forces who justified their actions by wrong interpretation of the Armenian Law on conducting meetings, assemblies, rallies and demonstrations but the protesters were eventually allowed to continue the peaceful action.

The demonstration started by the Prosecutor General's Office. The route passed through downtown area from the Government building in Republic Square along Abovian Street, Northern and Marshall Baghramian Avenues to the President's Office as its final destination. The demonstrators carried posters with the following slogans: "We all are Edik Baghdasaryans," "Let us protect journalists," "Who is the next?", "Don't we need free media?", "Who is the guarantor of security in our country?", "Don't strangle freedom of speech!", "We demand the crime to be exposed", etc.
