In a news conference on October 14 Mark Davis, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Yerevan Resident Office stated that Government members running big business and holding monopolies was a serious problem for any country, and Armenia was not an exception. In an interview to 1in.am Armenian News & Analyses online Heriknaz Tigranyan, Legal Adviser of Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) shared the concern stated by EBRD Yerevan Office and considered it as adequate manifestation of reality.

Earlier U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard M. Mills gave an exclusive interview to RFE/RL's Armenian service. He stated that corruption was a threat to national security. In the opinion of MP Vahram Baghdasaryan, the Head of "Republican" (RPA) Faction of RA National Assembly, US Ambassador’s concern over corruption in Armenia was an interference in its internal affairs. According to Tigranyan, the Ambassador had a mandate to express such a concern. In an interview to 1in.am Armenian news and analyses online Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director of TIAC addressing the opinion of Vahram Baghdasaryan noted that US Envoy’s concern over corruption in Armenia was legitimate.
