Parliamentary Hearings on "Parliamentary Ethics: The MPs Codes of Conduct"
On October 17 Sona Ayvazyan, Deputy Director and Heriknaz Tigranyan, Legal Expert of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center actively participated in parliamentary hearings on "Parliamentary Ethics: The MPs Codes of Conduct" and came up with recommendations. The event was organized by the RA National Assemblys Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs jointly with the USAID-funded Support to the Armenian National Assembly Program (SANAP) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Office in Yerevan. The hearings brought together MPs, representatives of the state bodies, local and international organizations, civil society and experts.
The Committee Chairman Davit Harutyunyan informed that out of 21 applications NA Committee on Ethics received throughout its activity 16 were refused. The materials posted on NA website were accessible for the public. Davit Harutyunyan presented the functions and problems of the Committee and noted that some issues were revealed during the committees activity, which needed to be settled. He expressed hope that the hearings would help to improve the legislation.
