"Azdarar" news program of "AR" Television Company covered the recent scandalous detection in the Service of Judicial Bailiffs, functioning within the Judicial Department on nearly dozen peoples arrest within several days. As a result of investigation, more than 150 people were exposed who, despite being registered, did not go to work, whereas their salaries were received and embezzled by the bailiffs. Within quite a few days the abuses and swindling, from the central system reached to departments. In this regard Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anticorruption Center considered the given case of embezzlement challenging for the society since it affected not a few peoples but every citizens pocket.

"This occurrence causes greater loss and has considerably serious consequences for the state than petty corruption - low-level, small-scale corrupt practices," noted Varuzhan Hoktanyan. Though no ones guilt has been proven yet, some of the accused hastened to return to the state part of the money embezzled through swindling. The issue of some other suspects arrest is being discussed at the moment. It is not excluded to have new arrests in the future within the scope of the case.

This case, exposed in the Service of Judicial Bailiffs, is the third in its scale and scope among scandalous events after the cases of Vazgen Khachikyan and Margar Ohanian. Vazgen Khachikyan, former chief of the State Social Security Service, now arrested, was dismissed in 2011 on suspicion of embezzling approximately 113 million drams (278,000 USD) in the form of pensions for persons who were deceased. Colonel Margar Ohanian, former head of the traffic police, was sentenced to six years imprisonment for abuse of power, grand larceny, and embezzling 218 million drams (537,000 USD) worth of gasoline intended for traffic police vehicles. Whether those accused are guilty or not guilty will be decided in the course of trial by court decision.
