Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center participated in a seminar "The Role of the CSOs and Media in Fighting Corruption: Current Actions and Challenges" held on March 18, 2013. Varuzhan Hoktanyan addressed the measures of the CSOs involvement in the implementation of the National Anti-corruption Action Plan. He reflected on the concept of CSOs support in the fight against corruption in RA Anti-corruption Strategy Implementation Action Plan for 2009- 2012, the actions reflected in the concept, their implementation, noting that the report on 2011 monitoring results were not updated after the first half-year of 2011.

The seminar was conducted within the framework of EU funded Project on "Situation Analysis of Public Sector Corruption in Armenia." It examined establishing dialogue platform for Armenian CSOs and media for their anti-corruption actions; role of the CSOs and media in the monitoring of the implementation of the national anti-corruption strategy; future steps of involving the CSOs and media in the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) review process; cooperation mechanisms on national, regional, international level and their integration in international anti-corruption networks; public-private partnerships and private sector corruption.

Onno Simons, Head of Political Section, Delegation of the European Union to Armenia delivered welcoming remarks. Onno Simmons informed that the EU had allocated nearly 15 million Euros to the Ministry of Finance in 2012 for the implementation of the project and it was intended to provide up to 100 million Euros within the upcoming 4 years.

Londa Esadze, Team Leader of "Situation Analysis of Public Sector Corruption in Armenia" came up with a presentation "Anti-corruption challenges and opportunities for the CSOs, Media and private sector in the light of the UN Convention against Corruption."
