Election postmen get down to work
A number of postmen will walk in Armenia's settlements and collect issues of concern from citizens to address them to political forces. Effective February 1, 2012 a new phase of "Election postman: Parliamentary elections-2012" is launched. The project is carried out jointly by Transparency International Anti-corruption Center and its partner NGOs - "Asparez" Journalists' Club and Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office.
The project aims to contribute to the formation of a democratic and accountable government system throughout Armenia by getting ordinary citizens involved in political agenda-setting and enhancing political parties' responsibility.
The citizens are offered to draw up and raise issues of their concern or to which they attach importance addressed to political parties /alliances in 2012 parliamentary elections. They will later raise them to addresses expecting them to be reflected in their pre-election programs. The most significant issues will be selected and addressed to political actors in television shows to be broadcast in April.
The program is intended to collect inquiries from 800 residents in Armenia from 50 settlements.
