Presentation of the Results of the Assessment of the Activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of the RA
The Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) organized the presentation of the report assessing the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, during which the main findings of the study were presented and discussed.
The study was conducted by TIAC with the support of the Government of Sweden. Its objective was to assess the compliance of the RA Prosecutor’s Office with the requirements stemming from the United Nations Convention against Corruption, as well as the principles set out in the Jakarta Statement on Principles for Anti-Corruption Agencies.
The research covered the period from 2021 to 2024.
The activities of the Prosecutor’s Office were evaluated based on 48 indicators, covering the following areas:
- independence,
- financial and human resources,
- accountability and internal integrity,
- prosecution of corruption-related crimes,
- corruption prevention,
- education and awareness,
- international cooperation.
According to the findings, the highest scores were recorded in independence (77.7%) and financial and human resource adequacy (68.7%). Average scores were observed in the areas of prosecution of corruption crimes (44.4%), accountability and internal integrity (44.4%), as well as external cooperation (50%). The lowest score was recorded in the area of prevention, education, and awareness (21.4%).
The overall level of compliance with the Jakarta anti-corruption principles was assessed at 66.2%. Within this framework, the lowest scores were recorded in external accountability, public communication, and cooperation.
The report also outlines a number of key recommendations aimed at improving the transparency of the prosecutor selection process, enhancing the legal framework, and safeguarding institutional independence.
The event was attended by representatives of the RA Prosecutor’s Office, local and international civil society organizations, as well as media representatives.
