TIAC has published a new reference concerning the management of public green spaces in Yerevan and the results of civic oversight conducted over them.

Public green spaces, including parks, gardens, and recreational areas, are communal property and a crucial component of urban life quality. They should serve exclusively the public interest, providing a healthy, safe, and accessible environment for all citizens.

The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of green space management, identify systemic issues, and present recommendations for protecting the public interest and improving management practices. The research covered several areas across different administrative districts of Yerevan. It analyzed the compliance of lease agreements with legislation, the proportionality of rent fees, the maintenance and safety of the areas, as well as the effectiveness of oversight.

The recurring nature of the problems identified indicates ongoing and flawed management practices, which call for systemic changes and a more transparent and accountable policy in the field of public property management.

The study was conducted within the framework of the “Yerevan Monitor” initiative. TIAC expresses gratitude to all the young people who were involved in carrying out the study and organizing the work for their valuable contributions.
