The presentation of the handbook “What and How to Talk About Corruption”
On December 4, within the framework of the “Anticorruption Awareness Week” announced by the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) presented the educational handbook “What and How to Talk About Corruption”. Developed with the support of the Government of Sweden, the handbook is designed for teachers of Civics in public schools.
During the event, welcome speeches were delivered by TIAC’s Executive Director Sona Ayvazyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araksia Svajyan, Head of the Development Cooperation Section at the Embassy of Sweden Claus Waldström, and Head of the Department of Anticorruption Policy Development and Monitoring at the Ministry of Justice Yeprem Karapetyan. They emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in the fight against corruption, highlighting that the handbook provides practical and methodological support to help educators integrate the topic into their lessons effectively and accessibly.
The event was attended by representatives of state and international organizations, teachers, and education experts. During the panel discussion, experts shared their perspectives on the challenges, solutions, and opportunities for enhancing the effectiveness of anticorruption education in public schools.
TIAC’s educational programs aim to support teachers in fostering responsible and critical thinking among students regarding the fight against corruption, thereby contributing to the development of more informed and principled citizens.
At the conclusion of the event, Civics teachers were provided with copies of the handbook. We hope it will become an effective tool in the teaching process.
TIAC continues to implement awareness-raising and educational programs beyond the activities of Anticorruption Week.
We extend our gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and valuable insights.
