On June 8th, the monitoring report for the “Sustainable School Meals” program was unveiled, accompanied by a public discussion held in Yerevan.

The event commenced with an opening speech by Gayane Baghdasaryan, the TIAC Project manager, who provided an overview of the work accomplished. Subsequently, Gohar Hovhannisyan, the monitoring program coordinator from the “Hartak” Research Center NGO, took the floor to present the monitoring objectives and the study's findings.

The report encompasses a comprehensive analysis of the food management process in eight schools located in the Tavush and Shirak regions. It identifies gaps in the organization of food and highlights the procurement procedures and food availability. Furthermore, the report offers recommendations on improving various aspects, including food organization, menu planning, procurement processes, enhancing canteen conditions, and addressing the dietary needs of children with special educational needs.

Following the presentation, an active discussion took place involving all participants. Notable topics of discussion included parental involvement, food procurement procedures, as well as the management of project funds, and the associated risks of corruption.

The event witnessed the presence of representatives and experts from various organizations, including the NCEDI Foundation's “School Food and Children's Welfare” institution, international organizations, sectoral civil society organizations, and experts in the field.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union, within the framework of the “Strengthening Accountability Networks among Civil Society: National Implementation & Participation in global and regional activities (SANCUS)” project.
