In an interview with Azatutyun TV Armen Grigoryan, political scientist and Electoral Projects Coordinator of Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) discusses the key events of 2016 and parliamentary elections in 2017. In the opinion of Grigoryan the two main events identifying signs of deep crisis for Armenia’s governance model, that caused political processes and eventually brought change in the government, were 2016 four-day war in April and “Sasna Tsrer” group’s action. However, he thinks that no serious measures have been taken so far for economic development, preserving the status quo.
Armen Grigoryan addressed the significance of civic oversight and election observation mission in the establishment of the electoral institute, progress and setbacks stipulated in the Electoral Code, work with public, potential political parties and parliamentary factions and groups in the National Assembly after elections, as well as the problems and challenges of the opposition.
