Economist Artak Manukyan in a conversation with “1in.am” noted that, 20 to 25% of Armenia’s GDP is in shade. According to the economist, if injustice and corruption are eliminated though this fight, the economy will experience a much greater benefit than any costs it incurred. “If as a result of an effective struggle against corruption we are able to tax this money and circulated into the economy, the effects will be several times greater than the loss of a few tourists to Armenia.”

“2007-2015 our national expenditures grew by 10.6 %, but the expenditures of the police force grew by 26.6%,” specified Artak Manukyan, “meaning that the main issue was not the economy, but the increase in police expenditure.” 2007-2015 police costs, which have increased more than 5 times, do not directly contribute to economic growth.

If we learned nothing from the April war, then we will be forced to learn these lessons through far worse incidences.
