On December 28, 2015 the second meeting of Anticorruption Council was held in the Government of Armenia. It brought together representatives of political forces, international organizations and civil society, including Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director and Khachik Harutyunyan, Expert of Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC). Khachik Harutyunyan made a presentation on “The Private Sector and Anticorruption Struggle” report which was taken into consideration during the meeting. He presented the situation in Armenia according to international studies and research, the recorded problems and positive trends, as well as certain opinions in conceptual level both in the first stage of business-state where business itself acts as an initiating party, and business-state second level where the state itself implements the obligations it assumed regerding the problem.

The council discussed and took into consideration the results on implementation of recommendations of the first meeting: the government endorsed Anticorruption Program, approved Support for Armenia's Anticorruption Strategy agreement to be signed and implemented. Measures are taken regarding the country’s commitment to join Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), and to create a platform with business community and other areas.

Among other issues, Armen Ashotyan, Minister of Education and Science presented the anticorruption actions implemented in 2015 and planned to implement in 2015-2016 in the area of education within the framework of 2015-2018 Republic of Armenia Anticorruption Strategy Implementation Action Plan. In order to reduce corruption risks in general education in current year, a one-year project on corruption risk assessment in general education of Armenia was launched since October 2015 within the framework of USAID funded TIAC NGO’s Engaged Citizenry for Responsible Governance project. Its aim is to study, expose and assess corruption risks in teaching quality, inclusive education and text-book development and printing in secondary education.
