Elections
Problem
Elections in Armenia are usually accompanied with a wide range of irregularities, such as the abuse of administrative resources, creation of unequal conditions for the candidates and political forces, vote-buying, suppression of the free will of the electorate, intimidation, falsification of results, followed by impunity of violators, etc. Hence, the majority of the citizens are rather skeptical about the quality of the elections.
Anticorruption efforts are mainly influenced by the quality of elections. Both issues are highly interrelated. The main issues around a lack of quality of elections are associated with the loopholes of the legislation, weakness of political parties, lack of public participation in the agenda setting, voting and oversight and poor law enforcement.
Our objectives
We aim at advocating for electoral legislation amendments, monitoring administrative resource abuse as well as campaign finance, analyzing voting numbers and revealing irregularities during elections. We also encourage citizen’s participation in agenda setting and mobilize the public for civic observation of electoral processes.
