“Participatory Democracy in Action” project is implemented by TIAC in collaboration with “Political Dialogue” and “Martuni Women’s Community Council” NGOs with the financial support by the European Union.

On March 31, the first expert discussion was held in the framework of the project, during which the current challenges to the democracy in Armenia, its causes and necessary actions to address those challenges as well as the engagement format of civil society were thoroughly discussed. The discussion was attended by the representatives of the civil society and academia.

The experts stressed both internal and external challenges of the democracy in Armenia and the importance of the political culture change. A broader public engagement, especially of academia is fundamental in strengthening democracy in Armenia. The civil society itself should define their vision simultaneously mapping public needs. Discussions aimed at strengthening democratic practices will be continuous.
