As a part of Transparency International delegation, CRD/TI Armenia Chairwoman Amalia Kostanyan from January 28 to February 1, 2008 participated in the Second Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in Bali, Indonesia. The priority topics at the Conference were monitoring, asset recovery stolen by corrupt leaders and technical assistance for lower-income countries to implement the convention.

Signed by 140 countries and ratified by more than 107 governments, UNCAC provides a comprehensive framework through which to curb global corruption and recognizes that combating corruption is not only a matter for governments, but also for civil society.

Together with other NGOs Transparency International operated within a coalition of civil society groups. TI and the coalition urge governments for more participatory, transparent and accountable implementation of UNCAC. Ms. Kostanyan was a leader of the NGO team on UNCAC review mechanisms.
