On Wednesday, October 7 CRD/TI Armenia chairwoman Amalia Kostanyan keynoted on ''Fighting corruption in Armenia'' at a Launching Conference on the Development of the New National Anticorruption Strategy. The conference was held within the framework of USAID ''Mobilizing Action against Corruption Activity'' program. In the opinion of Ms. Kostanyan the activities of the past 3-4 years should be given a serious evaluation before starting the development of a new program.

To the speaker's mind the international experience of fighting corruption proves to be effective if its three main directions--prevention, detection, and public support work. Armenia mostly focused on the prevention policy--the legislative field, with the final two being absent.
