On June 20, 2013 Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director and Sona Ayvazyan, Deputy Director of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center participated in the Closing Seminar of the Project on the Situation Analyses of Public Sector Corruption in Armenia. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Traian Hristea, Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia opened the event with introduction and welcoming remarks. The Prime Minister stated that the Armenian government prioritized effective anticorruption policy implementation and expert discussions for developing a clear-cut anticorruption strategy aimed at identifying the exact targets.

The Prime Minister noted, "From this perspective, Armenias anticorruption strategy program developed with direct contribution of European Union experts yielded positive results. In particular, taking into consideration European experts opinion we made a political decision and would have 2-3 specific targets, and annual action plan to to raise public awareness of our achievements. We need to target 2 or 3 fundamental problems, carry out professional analyses of the causes behind corruption and work out specific measures to eliminate them."

The Prime Minister said that the government has targeted two key areas - judiciary and healthcare - where anti-corruption measures should be implemented, because they affect thousands of people.

The final report on the EU project on the Situation Analyses of Public Sector Corruption of Armenia was presented by Londa Esadze, Team Leader and Khachik Harutyunyan, Junior Expert. TIAC representatives participated in the discussion.
