Amalia Kostanyan, Chairwoman of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center paid a visit to Washington, D.C. from January 12 to 16, 2009 to take part in a workshop on "The Role of Civil Society in Donor Programs" in Washington, D.C., organized by Open Society Institute. The event brought together civil society representatives from around the world and donor community to cover the key issues related to effectiveness of development aid.

The civil society representatives addressed their experiences in terms of involvement in monitoring of donor programs. The donors in their turn explained how their organizations or programs incorporate civil society into program design, implementation and monitoring of Millennium Challenge Corporation, World Bank's PRSP, OSI and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculoses and Malaria.

Amalia Kostanyan together with Larisa Minasyan, Executive Director of OSI-AFA, had several meetings with representatives of US State Department, USAID, MCC, US House Committee on Foreign Affairs and US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
