In Athens, Greece, Amalia Kostanyan, Chairwoman of Transparency International (TI) Anticorruption Center attended TI Europe and Central Asia Regional, Cross-regional Meetings and Annual Membership Meeting (AMM) from October 26 to 29, 2008. She was actively involved in various discussions and workshops around critical issues faced by the anti-corruption activists.

With around 300 delegates, including representatives of over 90 national chapters, individual members and TI secretariat staff, the 2008 AMM was the largest to-date for the world's leading anti-corruption organization, which celebrated its 15th Anniversary during the meeting.

In addition to electing a new board, a core function of the AMM, the TI movement also passed resolutions on four critical issues: the global financial crisis, the failure of the United Kingdom to comply with the OECD Anti-Bribery Conventions, the safety of anti-corruption advocates and the weakening of anti-corruption initiatives in South Korea.
