Scores of young activists, representatives of media, NGOs, and other concerned organizations in "Save Teghut Forest" T-shirts marched through the streets of Yerevan on October 11, 2008, displaying posters and banners to bring attention of public to numerous environmental problems Armenia is currently facing and to come up with their solutions. Accompanied by riksha, the two and a half hour march started by the Komitas Statue near the Conservatoire and ended in Republic Square. The route passed through downtown area from Sayat-Nova along Terian and Tumanian Streets to Mashtotst Avenue and then to Isahakian Street and via Abovian Street to its final destination.

The ecological challenges are myriad today. Human rights violations and environmental degradation continue in Armenia every day. Natural resources considered to be public ownership are mercilessly exploited in the interests of a group of people. Lake Sevan, scarce forests of Armenia, wealth of the earth's crust, wild animals are destroyed. Urban greenery are also destroyed, yielding to concrete. Our country must be saved.
