On May 13, 2008, TIAC executive director Sona Ayvazyan and other members of Teghut Defense Group conducted a press conference at the Friday Press Club to reflect on the details of the preceding action and to present future plans. They aimed at filing several lawsuits with courts disputing the government license for the operation of the Teghut molybdenum and copper mine as well as any permission for prospecting work for uranium in the provinces of Syunik and Vayots Dzor.

The Armenian Copper Program (ACP) Company owned by a Liechtenstein-based company (81 percent) and Russian citizen Valeri Mezhlumyan (19 percent) received a government license for the development of the Teghut mine last year. It implies logging of about 350 acres of virgin forests with rare plants and animal species as well as a construction of a plant whose tailing dump - wastes of the mining industry - will have an irreparably damaging effect, occupying as large area as Yerevanian Lake, about 110 acres.

Teghut Defense Group members Silva Adamyan, Mariam Sukhadyan, Hrair Savzyan, Arman Vermishyan, Sona Ayvazyan and MP Zaruhi Postanjyan addressed the press conference. The latter presented her enquiry to the Armenian government on a number of questions regarding the operation of Teghut mine.
