Sur Ankyun: the participation of provincial and community officials in state procurement
Armenia television’s "Sharp Angle" show addressed high ranking officials’ participation in state procurement and auctions. Artak Manukyan expressed expert opinion on corruption risks in state procurement tenders and the means to reduce them. In some cases after amendments to RA law on public auctions officials and people related to them are enabled to participate in, say auctions of lands. The companies belonging to officials began to actively participate in state procurement.
The officials do not need to register their businesses under other people’s names any more. The companies of state, territorial administration, and local government bodies and the people related to them can sometimes participate in public auctions. It is not the winning of the companies belonging to the officials that win which is curious but the fact that they always present the minimal price. Why do the companies belonging to the officials always happen to be in advantageous positions?
