Sona Ayvazyan, Deputy Director of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center (TIAC) participated in brainstorming meeting within the framework of implementation of "Engaging Civil Society in Monitoring Conflict of Interest (CoI) Policies" project. Held in Kiev on August 20-21, 2013, the objective of the event was to exchange knowledge, skills and experience to raise the capacity of civil society organisations in monitoring conflict of interest policies at central and local level in four EU and EaP countries - Poland, Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia. TIAC launched the project since July 1, 2013. The event was organized by TI-Moldova and TI-Ukraine.

The participants focused on general architecture of the project by discussing the objectives, main actions, output and outcome indicators, expected impact, work plan, relationships with partners, and sources of information. They also examined the notion of conflict of interests and international practices of treating CoI. The four partner country representatives gave the description of the national legal frameworks on CoI in their respective counties and decided what can be done together having different frameworks, how to provide expertise of the national legal framework regulating conflict of interests policies, given example of Moldova. Also brainstorming was provided on advocacy campaign, considering similarities and differences. They also compared monitoring CoI in local public administration with that of central level to reveal the differences.
