ENP implementation in the focus of a visit to Brussels
Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center (TIAC) paid a visit to Brussels to participate in two events. Organized by the OSF-Armenia as part of civil society representatives' delegation from April 26-29 he reported on Armenia's progress in implementation of its anti-corruption commitments to European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) and other EU initiatives to EU institutions. As part of the South Caucasus TI community, in May 4, he presented "ENP: Monitoring of Armenia's Anti-corruption Commitments 2010" report organized by TI Secretariat and TI Liaison Office to the EU in Brussels, supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Within the framework of OSF-Armenia delegation Mr. Hoktanyan had meetings and discussed progress made by the Armenian government in implementing its obligations with representatives of European Commission and European Parliament, Mission of Armenia to the EU, and European Policy Center.
As for TI event, new assessment reports on Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia were released on May 4. The reports, which were compiled by TI chapters in these countries focus on reforms in the judiciary and in the public sector. They also assess each country's implementation of recommendations made by the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO). Since it was the second year of monitoring, the report covered both 2010 updates and comprehensive assessments for 2009. The TI reports are issued ahead of the European Commission's Action Plan annual reviews for the three countries.
