TIAC is launching a training program for Social Studies teachers in the Armavir and Ararat regions to emphasize the importance of forming civic consciousness and values among schoolchildren and the role of anti-corruption education in achieving this goal. The program comprises three key components: a series of focus-group discussions for teachers of Yerevan, Armavir, and Ararat regions, a retraining program for teachers of Armavir and Ararat regions, and a manual that will be developed and provided to the trained teachers.

The purpose of the training program is to equip teachers with knowledge about the “corruption” phenomenon, its types, means of combating it, and teaching methods, as well as develop their capacities to teach topics related to corruption.

The first phase of the program, focus-group discussions, is scheduled for April 24 to 28 and will last a maximum of 2 hours. Participants will receive an email with information about the date, time, and location of the discussions by April 22.

The focus-group discussion topics include integrating topics related to corruption and integrity into the separate topics of the Social Science subject, teaching problems related to corruption and charity in schools, and the applicability of didactic and methodical materials within the framework of topics of corruption and integrity, among others.

The data collected during the focus group discussions will be used to develop the training module and training manual.

The second stage of the program is planned for May-June and will take the form of external training. This training will be intended for teachers who participated in the focus-group discussions and showed a high level of interest in the topic. To participate in the program, teachers of the “Social Studies” subject who have at least one year of experience in teaching the subject can fill out the registration form by April 18.

The project is supported by the Swedish government.
