The “Citizen Observer” Initiative deployed its largest ever observation mission since its two-year activity to cover the constitutional referendum held in Armenia on December 6, 2015. Nearly 1000 observers and mass media representatives of the Initiative who monitored the referendum proceedings in polling stations for 18 hours revealed more than 800 violations and voting irregularities. Based on the credible data nearly 150-200 complaints and appeals were filed to district and central referendum commissions. The large-scale documentation of about 150 violations which the observers and media reporters managed to collect was due to their committed fight against the huge army engaged in electoral fraud, exceeding them both in number and resources, who used every occasion to obstruct their rights and to neutralize their oversight efforts.

The “Citizen Observer” Initiative conveys its profound respect to all those observers who resisted the electoral fraud in the atmosphere of pressure and intimidations.

We appreciate the work and commitment of our team who endangered their own safety and security for the protection of the Armenian citizens’ right to vote and the establishment of democratic Armenia.
