Upcoming Referendum: Study of Voter Lists
Ahead of every national election, and the forthcoming constitutional referendum the topic of voter lists and the possible irregularities in them is in the center of public attention. Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) has been conducting the project on electronic monitoring since 2012 to monitor two national and Yerevan city council elections. The project is currently carried out to monitor referendum. Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director of TIAC presented the project during a press conference hosted by Media Center on November 13, 2015. The project was assisted by Open Society Foundations-Armenia. He drew the attention of the audience to view some interesting data, concerning age groups of voters, repetitions of names, surnames, patronymics, voters with no address and apartments with dozens of dwellers.
The main goal of the project is to enable the voters to monitor and reduce the scale of possible irregularities before, during and after voting. It is more necessary for monitors and those who are interested to carry out fair elections. Ordinary citizens may also make use of the project.
