Transparency International Anticorruption Center’s Executive Director Varuzhan Hoktanyan and Project Specialist Lena Nazaryan, who is also a member of Teghut Defense Initiative, participated in Youth retreat, which took place in Tsaghkadzor on October 24-26, 2014. Varuzhan Hoktanyan addressed “Corruption as a problem of problems in the country’s development and good governance processes” during “Corruption, transparency, accountability and good governance” session of the three-day event, organized by Open Society Foundations - Armenia. Lena Nazaryan spoke on “The successes and failures of civic initiatives in Armenia and other countries” during the session.

Lena Nazaryan presented the emergence of social movements, their problems and successes in Armenia, as well as in other countries, speaking on the significance of precise and professional formulation of the problems and requirements.

Human rights and freedom of information, as well as civic initiatives and activism were examined during the event. “Being a citizen” documentary film was screened and discussed with film director Davit Stepanyan. “The city is ours” civic initiative was also presented during the retreat.
