On September 26, 2014 the hearing of Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) NGO’s complaint against the decision of Yerevan city prosecutor’s office in Kentron and Nork Marash administrative districts general jurisdiction court was postponed. The prosecutor failed to attend, and the court requested additional documents from the plaintiff. After the court sitting TIAC Deputy Director Sona Ayvazyan told Aravot.am that the case of Afrikyan House implied violation of the provisions of Convention for the Protection of the Architectural Heritage of Europe. She clarified that they had no right to remove any protected monument except where the material safeguarding of such monuments made removal imperative, whereas in case of Afrikyan House there was no such imperative. However, there was a government decision to remove it, and though the decision was made in 2006, the process began in 2014.
