Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anticorruption Center took part in discussions on Open Government Partnership (OGP) Armenia national action plan 2014 to 2016 held in Vanadzor on August 4 and in Gyumri on August 5, 2014. The process of drafting the second Open Government national action plan for the Republic of Armenia (2014-2016) was initiated by RA government in late 2013. On July 31 the government approved the OGP action plan, which comprised 11 recommendations out of 50, including 7 made by civil society.

Levon Barseghyan, Council Chairman of Journalists’ Club “Asparez” NGO and Director of “Public awareness and participation in Open Government Partnership Armenia project” welcomed the audience with opening remarks by presenting the project. The project is implemented by the Journalists’ Club “Asparez” with the support of Counterpart International-Armenia/USAID. Experts Varuzhan Hoktanyan and Liana Doydoyan, Project Director at Freedom of Information Center of Armenia addressed OGP Armenia national action plan 2014 to 2016, civil society’s participation in it, how effective the participation was, recommendations made by civil society, as well as the rejected and adopted recommendations.
