Promotion of Free and Fair Elections in Marzes of Armenia (2014)

Description: The project goal is to promote the conduct of free, fair and transparent elections in marzes of Armenia. It is achieved through increased awareness of the public on electoral standards and enhanced quality of participation in elections, activated public oversight, law enforcement and detection of electoral violations in 30 communities in Armenia on the day of elections. Project activities include the creation and distribution of a booklet aimed at raising voter awareness; introductory meetings in communities to introduce voters to their rights, electoral standards, electoral processes, etc.; observation of elections; and, filing of complaints to law enforcement and judicial bodies.
Results: Generated public demand for better electoral processes through increased awareness of the public on electoral standards. Also enhanced quality of participation in elections by activating public oversight of the election process and detection of the subsequent violations by law enforcement.
