Crowdsourcing Elections Observation: Parliamentary Elections-2012

Description: The project aims at promotion of free, fair and transparent parliamentary elections in Armenia through enhancing civic participation in the observation and reporting of electoral processes, as well as strengthening the capacity of activists for public oversight of electoral processes and reporting via new communication technologies and increasing the knowledge and publicity of electoral processes via internet visualization of the reported data. The project provides to develop networks and train reporters on using sms, twitter and facebook to report election violations, coordinate and moderate collection of data on electoral violations during parliamentary elections of 2012 and visualize those via an interactive web-based map.
Results: Increased genuine public interest in the electoral process and suppression of the spread of electoral violations, increased knowledge and publicity of electoral violations, substantiation of citizens/organizations claims related to the legality of processes and legitimacy of results of elections, developed model of crowdsourcing election observation to be used for monitoring of electoral processes in Armenia during further elections.
