On July 2 CRD/TI Armenia NGO together with its partners initiated an action of protest for the defense of Radio Liberty. Launched at the Square of Liberty, the protesters' demonstration with posters and with cloth-covered mouths symbolizing violation of freedom of press and right to information marched to the gates of the National Assembly.

The protesters stuck a 10m long poster reading "They have voted against Liberty" with the names and faceless pictures of the 79 MPs who voted for the bills on Television and Radio and the Law on State Duty during the first reading. The participants of the action were the representatives of CRD/TI Armenia NGO, the Armenian Helsinki Committee, Sksela initiative group, Journalists' Club "Asparez" of Gyumri, Yerevan Press Club, Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Branch, other NGOs, individual citizens, as well as international organizations and journalists.

On July 3 the Armenian parliament due to the lack of a quorum (with the ratio of votes 63 for, none against, two abstentions) failed to pass the bills threatening the broadcast of Radio Liberty.
