Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC), within the framework of “Engaged Citizenry for Responsible Governance” project, launched a two-month internship program from November 12, 2019 to January 10, 2020. The program aimed to provide young people with the knowledge and toolset related to the sector of public administration as well as the detection of corruption risks in normative legal acts. The program was conducted by trainer Hayk Malkhasyan, who had an extensive experience of lecturing at Russian-Armenian University and American University of Armenia.

Thirteen students from Yerevan State University, Russian-Armenian University, American University of Armenia and Public Administration Academy of Armenia took part in the program. On January 30, 2020 Certificates of Completion were conferred upon those students who successfully passed the first phase and provided 70 % participation. Davtuhi Ghahramanyan, a student from Russian-Armenian University particularly stated about the significance of the program: “The program provided a capacity to analyze normative legal acts, to view them from another perspective and to focus attention during debates and question and answer sessions. It also enabled me to acquire new knowledge and enlarge my knowledge on corruption and corruption risks.”

The program was comprised of two phases: theoretical and practical.

Theoretical phase included short-term lectures/trainings that rendered theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas of public administration, legislation, development of legal acts and identification of corruption risks therein.

Phase 2 consisted of practical activities, during which the participants applied the acquired knowledge for anti-corruption expertize of specific draft legal acts.
