On June 29-30, 2017, Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) held a training “Participatory Methods of Public Policy Monitoring” in the framework of the program “Engaged Citizenry for Responsible Governance.” Representatives of around two dozen non-governmental organizations interested in matters of transparency and accountability participated in the training, which was conducted by Arshavir Ghukasyan, is an experienced trainer focused on good governance, project management and advocacy.

The course reflected on purposes of monitoring; the definition, significance, and principles of participation; factors benefitting the success of participatory methods; preparatory actions, including the mapping of monitoring criteria, the geographical decision-making, the involvement of interested parties, the key group, and the monitoring group. Post-monitoring actions and monitoring tools, as well as the concepts of social audit, social accountability, along with successful examples were also discussed at the training.

The participating CSO and their representatives will have the opportunity to realize their ideas based on the gained knowledge through small grants.
