Grants awarded to TIAC to conduct election observation mission during 2017 parliamentary elections within the framework of Citizen Observer Initiative
Citizen Observer Initiative received funding for implementation of the “Public Oversight over 2017 Parliamentary Elections” project from several sources. In particular, Transparency International Anticorruption Center was awarded grants from National Endowment for Democracy (NED), Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Georgia and Tufenkian Charitable Foundation.
The NED-funded grant lasted 7 months and was around 90,466 USD, out of which approximately 19,884 USD was spent on the salaries of the staff and about 4,759 USD (~5.3%) was spent on office and telecommunication expenses. The cost of the service provided by the lawyers was about 18,476 USD (~20.4%). Forty-two regional and Yerevan coordinators and a few observers were paid 33,695 USD (~37.2%) total. Nearly 4,268 USD (~4.7%) was spent on travel expenses. The remaining 9,384 USD (10.4%) was spent on hotel services, social network advertising, creation of video clips, and printing of materials.
The grant funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Georgia lasted two months and was carried out in cooperation with Public Movement "Multinational Georgia". General expenses of the grant were 61,832 EUR, out of which nearly 4,037 EUR (~6.5%) was spent on the Georgia and Armenia staff salaries. Nearly 7,776 EUR (~12.6%) was spent on trainers, experts and observers from Georgia, nearly 44,908 EUR (~72.6%) was spent on travel expenses and the overnight stay for the same 150 observers from Georgia. 5,111 EUR (~8.3%) was spent on accommodations, printing and telecommunication expenses.
The grant, received from Tufenkian Charitable Foundation in AMD was equivalent to 3,000 USD. The funds were spent on supporting to organize trainings.
TIAC staff additionally received about 15,800 EUR (gross) payment from the EU- funded grant awarded to Europe in Law Association NGO for coordination of election observation mission.
