On June 6-7, 2017 Sona Ayvazyan, Executive Director of Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) participated in Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) workshop on Beneficial Ownership Disclosure and EITI reporting, held by Dyveke Rogan, the Policy and Regional Director of the EITI International Secretariat. The workshop brought together Armenia’s EITI Multi-stakeholder Group members and other representatives involves in Armenian EITI process, including Khachik Harutyunyan, TIAC Anticorruption Expert.

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a global Standard to promote the open and accountable management of natural resources. The EITI Multi-stakeholder Group (MSG) is responsible for oversight and management of the EITI implementation process. The EITI MSG is composed of the representatives of the Government, mining companies and civil society. The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Board approved Armenia’s EITI candidature application at the EITI board meeting held in Bogota, Colombia on 9 March 2017 and Armenia attained the EITI candidacy status. The International partners of the EITI Armenia are the World Bank, the USAID with its “Enhanced Transparency in the Mining Sector” project, and the British Embassy.
