On June 13, 2006, the CRD/TI Armenia NGO organized a meeting of the Environmental Public Alliance of the Armenian NGOs at the Public Environmental Information Center (Aarhus Center), to discuss the proposals under consideration of the Armenian Government related to the management system of the City of Yerevan and the pertinent environmental issues. From the point of view of urban construction, the potential repercussions of the proposed management models of the Armenian capital were presented by Gurgen Musheghyan, the Director of "Yerevannakhagits" (Yerevan Project) Institute. The prevailing majority of the Alliance member NGOs opposed the concept of division of the City of Yerevan with consideration of its possible pernicious impact on all the systems providing for the city's vital functions. The NGOs made a decision to turn a petition to the inter-ministerial commission established for the purpose of developing a draft Law of the RA on the City of Yerevan to involve the Alliance representatives in the activities of the said commission.
