Within the framework of "Youth Engaged in Society" (YES) School Debate Club project Amalia Kostanyan, Chairwoman of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center met with Goris secondary school students on March 18, 2009. During an interactive discussion they tackled a number of key issues, including state-citizen relationships; citizens' rights and obligations; possibilities of participation in state governance; political corruption; electoral processes, etc.

YES School Debate Club project has been implemented since 2004 by the Armenian NGO Youth for Achievement, and the Armenian-American Jinishian Memorial Foundation with financial and technical assistance of Counterpart International.

The art of debate is an important mechanism for creating open dialogue, encouraging critical thinking and promoting listening. It is the structured nature of debate that provides a valuable opportunity for participants to engender and promote concepts of free expression, respect for varied opinions and tolerance for divergent ideas.
