A roundtable discussion was held on May 10, 2006 at the Public Environmental Information Center (Aarhus Center) by the CRD/TI Armenia; the Armenian Center for the Protection of Human Rights after A.D.Sakharov; and the Armenian Botanical Society non-governmental organizations. The purpose of the event was to discuss the potential activities aimed at the implementation of conclusions and recommendations developed by the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee with regard to the process of decision-making on the construction of Dalma Orchards. The roundtable hosted representatives of the concerned government entities and non-governmental organizations who expressed their position on the above issue. It was mentioned at the event that on April 28 2006, the RA Prime Minister, based on the appeal from the aforementioned NGOs, issued an instruction to the RA Minister of Nature Protection, the RA Minister of Urban Development, the RA Minister of Agriculture, the Chairman of the State Committee for Real Estate Cadastre under the RA Government and the Yerevan Mayor, to organize within a 20-day period a joint discussion and to present recommendations for the resolution of the raised issues, with participation of the NGO representatives.
