On December 4, 2015 a discussion was held in Media Center with the participation of representatives of European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE) and four member organizations of Citizen Observer Initiative. They addressed the unequal conditions of the referendum campaign, work of Citizen Observer Initiative, crowdsourcing platform that will operate on Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC), hanraqve.com website and other issues. Sona Ayvazyan, TIAC Deputy Director presented how Citizen Observer Initiative’s work was organized.

According to Ayvazyan Citizen Observer Initiative will monitor elections with enlarged members, having more than 900 monitors. The observation mission will be deployed covering the whole area of Armenia, including all provinces and all the communities of Yerevan, by engaging organizations, public journalists, international partners that were deprived of acting as international observers.

Other speakers of the discussion were Lene Wetteland, Norwegian Helsinki Committee, EPDE; Lusine Hakobyan, Lawyer at Europe in Law NGO; Artur Sakunts, Chairman of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office and Levon Barseghyan, President of Gyumri Journalists Club Asbarez.

Lene Wetteland presented the mission of the organization and spoke about the difficulties with obtaining accreditation for the December 6 Referendum since the entire organization was deprived of the possibility to have its observers on the referendum day. “We filed an application to the Central Elections Committee and then found out we could not be international observers,” said Wetteland.
